Why the urgency? Why the concern?

We are counselled in Scripture over and over again to watch and pray, to be sober, to be vigilant, to take heed, and be on guard, to stay awake, to remain clothed, and to wake up from your slumber and so on. Why the urgency? Why the concern?

Turn the page, then again comes, let him who has an ear hear; redeem the time for the days are evil; be watchful and strengthen the things which remain; hold fast what you have; take heed that no one deceives you. Every person has the responsibility to take care of his / her vessel and see to it that they are not taken by surprise by what is forthcoming.

What is forthcoming? In Revelation 22:12, Jesus says, “And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work.” The Bridegroom is coming. It does not matter how much time has lapsed since when it was first announced. Waste no moment, keep your eye on the ball, and be diligent, for the stakes are high. Always remember that the One who said “I am coming quickly”, is the same One who said, “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only.”

Therefore, though your strength may be little, be faithful, keep His word, persevere, “…hold fast what you have that no one may take your crown.” (Rev.3:11)

Let us pray, "Father, in the name of Jesus, enable me to hold fast what I have. Amen."
