Know Who Jesus Is

There is a difference between hearing about someone and truly knowing them. We have all heard the name “Jesus.” But who is He - to you?

You can grow up around church. Know the stories. Quote the verses. And still miss the most important truth: who Jesus really is.

In John 1:11, it says: “He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him.” How is that possible? They were waiting for the Messiah - but didn’t recognize Him when He stood in front of them.

Familiarity can breed blindness. Tradition can blur the truth. In Matthew 16, Jesus asked His disciples: “Who do you say I am?” Peter replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” And Jesus said: “This was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven.” (Matthew 16:17)

That is what real faith looks like - not head knowledge, but revelation. Not secondhand belief, but a personal encounter. It’s not enough to admire Jesus as a teacher, prophet, or moral guide. Even the crowds did that. Even other religions do that.

But eternal life - real life - is found in knowing Him as the Son of God: “This is eternal life: that they know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom You have sent.” - John 17:3

Jesus didn’t come just to inspire us. He came to save us.

And this same Jesus is:

  • The common denominator in all things of God - without Him, everything falls apart.

  • The platform on which we stand - remove Him, and the foundation crumbles.

  • Unchanging in a changing world - “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8)

He is the One Moses, the prophets, psalms, and apostles pointed to. The One through whom God speaks. The One in whom the fullness of God dwells.

So let me ask again: Who is Jesus to you?

Not your pastor’s answer. Not your family’s faith. Your answer. Your relationship. Your revelation.

Because if Jesus is just a good man to you...you don’t know Him yet.

Know who Jesus is. Know Him.
