Arise and Go Forward

The new year brings an invitation to step into the plans God has for you. “Arise and go forward” is more than a call - it is a command to leave behind fear, doubt, and anything holding you back.

But what does it mean to move forward? Sometimes, it feels like stepping into the unknown, even into darkness. That is where faith comes in. God’s hand is stretched out, waiting for you to take the first step. And as you do, He will guide you every step of the way.

From the beginning, God has shown us what it means to move forward. In creation, out of silence, the universe came into being. With Adam and Eve, God formed humanity with His hands, calling them to care for the garden and live according to His Word.

Each day, Adam received wisdom and purpose from God, naming the animals and living in His presence. But when Adam and Eve stopped moving forward - when they gave in to pride, self, and the temptation of the enemy - they disconnected from the Source of life and disconnection leads to stagnation. As Jesus said in John 15:5, “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me, you can do nothing.”

The story of Adam and Eve reminds us that staying stuck - whether in fear, shame, or even success - can keep us from walking in God’s plans. The enemy whispers lies, telling us that focusing on ourselves will bring life. But when we focus on self, we lose sight of the life God has for us.

But remember that faith isn’t passive - it's active and intentional. It is not enough to pray for an open door - we need to step through it. God opened the door for Noah, Abraham, and Lot, but they each had to act:

  • Noah trusted God and built the ark for 120 years, despite ridicule.

  • Abraham left his home and everything familiar to follow God’s promise.

  • Lot walked away from Sodom, even when his loved ones stayed behind.

Their faith wasn’t about knowing every detail of God’s plan - it was about trusting Him enough to take the first step.

Your Call for 2025

God is calling you to rise up. This year, don’t let past mistakes, grief, or even achievements hold you back. Shake off fear, shame, doubt and discouragement, and trust that God is with you. Psalm 119:105 reminds us: “Your word is a lamp to my feet, a light on my path.” His Word will guide you.

God says: “I am with you. I will make a way for you.” So, arise and go forward!

The door is open, and His hand is stretched out. All you have to do is step through.
